Patient 10 years old, class III molar and cuspid, blocked out upper cuspids and lower right cuspid. Bimler cephalometric reveals a proportionally larger mandible anteriorly positioned (before treatment).
After, notice the improvement on the middle third of the face, fullness on the upper lip and the more class I appearance of the chin.
Skeletally Bimler analysis shows a class II, division 3, with a predominant direction of growth horizontal.
After six months of maxillary transverse development, 9 months with a functional appliance, and 12 months of fixed therapy the patient shows class I molar and cuspid normal overbite and normal overjet.
Before treatment. Notice the convex profile, deep mentonian sulcus, reverted lower lip, hyper-activity of the mentalis muscle and lip seal obtained with effort.
Skeletally is Class I, midly leptoprosopic (Bimler analysis). Dentally is Class I, the arches are under-developed and upper six year old molar are under-rotated.
After 8 months of maxillary arch development with a Schwarz appliance patient had braces for a period of sixteen months.
